Deep Tissue / Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic massage is a broad term for modalities of massage that serve a purpose beyond simple relaxation. Sports massage or medical massage could are similar terms and often involve similar techniques such as myofascial release, neuromuscular massage, orthobionomy, peripheral neuromuscular facilitation, ect. A treatment session may involve relaxation and therapeutic techniques to achieve optimal results based on the needs of the client.
Traditional Thai massage is a deep, full-body treatment, which includes both stretching of the joints and muscles and applied pressure to the sen lines. This takes place on a mat while fully clothed and is both relaxing and energizing.
Swedish Massage is the most common and best known type of massage. It involves long, fluid strokes of muscles and tissues with pressure that varies from light to medium to firm. Swedish is a full body massage and is considered to be one of the most relaxing styles.
Prenatal Thai Massage
Prenatal Thai is a relaxing and nurturing experience. Like Traditional Thai massage, it takes place on a comfortable mat on the floor while fully clothed. Heated herbal compresses and hot stones help melt away the tension and soreness commonly experienced during pregnancy. Since stretching and deep pressure are contraindicated during pregnancy, balance and relief are brought about using gentle to moderate pressure.
Lymphatic Therapy is an effective treatment for improving the flow of lymph throughout the body. Blockages and disfunction can cause pain and effect other tissues in the body. This therapy may speed the healing process and reduce edema, cellulite, inflammation, and dryness.
Considered by many scholars to be the oldest healing science, Ayurveda is a holistic approach to health that is designed to help people live long, healthy, and well balanced lives. The term Ayurveda is taken from the Sanskrit words ayus, meaning life or lifespan, and veda, meaning knowledge. It has been practiced in India for at least 5,000 years and has recently become popular in Western cultures. The basic principle of Ayurveda is to prevent and treat illness by maintaining balance in the body, mind, and consciousness through proper drinking, diet, and lifestyle, as well as herbal remedies.
Whole Body Tonic offers Ayurvedic counseling, body treatments, and workshops.
